Context

제28회 세계가스총회는 1931년부터 3년마다 개최되는 세계 최대 규모의 가스산업 행사로, 2022년 5월 23일부터 27일까지 대구 EXCO에서 개최되었다. 국제가스연맹이 주최하고 한국가스연맹이 주관한 이 행사는 '가스에 기반한 지속가능한 미래'라는 주제로 전 세계 90여 개국에서 12,000명이 참가했다. 한국 정부와 대구광역시, KOGAS의 지원 하에 500여 명의 연사가 70개 세션에서 발표하고 350개 기업이 전시에 참여하는 가스업계의 올림픽으로 불리는 대규모 국제행사였다.

Challenge

5일간 대구와 경주 지역 10개 이상의 로케이션에서 동시다발적으로 진행되는 방대한 프로그램을 체계적으로 기록해야 했다. IGU 총회, 집행이사회, 경영진 회의 등의 공식 회의부터 개폐회식, 기조발표, 특별연설, 논문발표, 패널토의, 전시회, 환영연회, 산업시찰까지 각각 다른 톤앤매너를 요구하는 다양한 행사들을 일관성 있게 담아내는 것이 관건이었다. 무엇보다 현장 편집 공간을 마련해 실시간으로 콘텐츠를 생산하면서 20여 건의 완성도 높은 영상물을 납품해야 하는 기술적 도전이 컸다.

Solution

행사 전 주최측과의 면밀한 사전 협의를 통해 핵심 프로그램들을 우선순위화하고 각 로케이션별로 전담 촬영팀을 배치했다. 대구 EXCO 내에 임시 편집 사무소를 설치하여 촬영과 동시에 편집이 가능한 원스톱 프로덕션 시스템을 구축했다. 비상시 대피영상과 같은 안전 관련 콘텐츠부터 하이라이트 영상까지 다양한 포맷의 콘텐츠를 신속하게 제작했고, 글로벌 참가자들의 생생한 증언과 핵심 순간들을 놓치지 않고 포착하여 가스업계 역사에 남을 성공적인 기록물을 완성했다.

Context

The 28th World Gas Conference, the world's largest gas industry event held every three years since 1931, took place from May 23-27, 2022, at EXCO Daegu. Hosted by the International Gas Union and organized by the Korea Gas Union, this gathering operated under the theme "A Sustainable Future Powered by Gas," attracting 12,000 participants from over 90 countries. Supported by the Korean Government, Daegu Metropolitan City, and KOGAS, the event featured 500+ speakers across 70 sessions and 350 exhibiting companies, earning recognition as the Olympics of the gas industry.

Challenge

Systematically documenting the vast programming across 10+ locations in Daegu and Gyeongju over five intensive days presented unprecedented logistical complexity. From formal IGU assemblies, executive board meetings, and management conferences to opening/closing ceremonies, keynote presentations, special addresses, paper presentations, panel discussions, exhibitions, welcome receptions, and industrial tours—each requiring distinct tonal approaches while maintaining overall consistency. The technical challenge of establishing on-site editing booth for real-time content production while delivering 20+ polished video packages demanded strategic precision.

Solution

Through meticulous pre-event coordination with organizers, we prioritized core programs and deployed dedicated filming teams across each location. We established a temporary editing office within EXCO Daegu, creating a one-stop production system enabling simultaneous shooting and editing. From emergency evacuation videos to highlight reels, we rapidly produced diverse content formats while capturing essential moments and authentic testimonials from global participants, ultimately completing a comprehensive historical record of this landmark industry gathering.
