Context

HD현대건설기계의 울산캠퍼스는 1987년 설립 이후 한국 건설기계 산업의 메카로 자리잡아온 핵심 생산기지다. 굴착기와 휠로더 등 주력 제품의 생산을 담당하며 회사 성장의 중추 역할을 해왔지만, 급변하는 글로벌 시장과 디지털 전환의 요구에 부응하기 위해 대규모 혁신이 필요한 시점에 도달했다. HD현대건설기계는 울산캠퍼스를 차세대 스마트 팩토리로 전환하는 프로젝트를 추진하며, 이를 통해 생산 효율성 향상, 품질 혁신, 그리고 지속가능한 미래 성장 동력 확보를 목표로 했다.

Challenge

건설기계라는 무거운 산업의 이미지를 현대적이고 역동적인 비주얼로 재해석해야 하는 과제가 있었다. 또한 울산캠퍼스의 물리적 변화뿐만 아니라 그 이면에 담긴 기술 혁신, 디지털 전환, 지속가능성 등의 추상적 가치들을 시각 언어로 구체화해야 했다.

Solution

HD현대의 브랜드 컬러를 기반으로 하되 건설기계의 역동성을 표현할 수 있는 강렬한 컬러 팔레트를 구성했다. 기하학적 형태와 산업적 텍스처를 활용해 견고함과 정밀함을 동시에 표현하는 비주얼 시스템을 개발했다. 타이포그래피는 속도감과 미래지향적 느낌을 강조하는 키네틱 타입으로 구성하여 변화의 에너지를 시각화했다.

Context

HD Hyundai Construction Equipment's Ulsan Campus has been a core production base serving as the mecca of Korea's construction equipment industry since its establishment in 1987. While playing a pivotal role in the company's growth by producing flagship products such as excavators and wheel loaders, it reached a point requiring large-scale innovation to respond to the rapidly changing global market and demands for digital transformation. HD Hyundai Construction Equipment promoted a project to transform the Ulsan Campus into a next-generation smart factory, aiming to improve production efficiency, innovate quality, and secure sustainable future growth engines.

Challenge

We faced the challenge of reinterpreting the heavy industrial image of construction equipment into modern and dynamic visuals. Additionally, we needed to translate not only the physical changes of the Ulsan Campus but also the abstract values of technological innovation, digital transformation, and sustainability embedded within into concrete visual language.

Solution

We composed an intense color palette that could express the dynamism of construction equipment while based on HD Hyundai's brand colors. We developed a visual system that simultaneously expressed solidity and precision using geometric forms and industrial textures. The typography was composed of kinetic type emphasizing speed and future-oriented feelings to visualize the energy of change.
